"Therefore welcome one another as
Christ has welcomed you,
for the glory of God." Romans 15:7, ESV
We at Highway believe that Christ welcomes all who desire to follow Him, and we wish to follow his example. You will not be judged by your past, your present, or the clothes you wear. We simply want to share with you the hope, love, and acceptance we have found in Jesus Christ. Please accept our sincere invitation to join us as we worship our Lord and Savior.
What to Expect
Our doors are always open to visitors and we would love to have you do us the honor of visiting our services. We want you to feel comfortable when you visit us, so let us give you an idea of what to expect when you visit:
The Building: You will enter the south building through the main doorway under the larger awning (near the outdoor stairway). If you walk through the foyer to the double doors, you will enter what we call the “auditorium”, where our services are held. There are no reserved seats; please feel free to sit anywhere you are comfortable.
Praise & Worship: At Highway, our worship services begin with a time to praise God through song. The music at Highway is a capella, which simply means that we sing without instruments. The words to the songs are projected onto a screen at the front of the auditorium, where there will also be a worship leader to help direct us in this time of worship. Our time spent in song is an integral part of our service when we lift our hearts in praise to God, and we welcome your participation.
Communion: We celebrate the Lord’s supper each Sunday during services. During this time, trays of unleavened bread and individual cups of grape juice will be passed throughout the auditorium. These represent the body and blood of Jesus and his sacrifice and death on the cross, as well as his resurrection and the forgiveness God offers us through his death. We invite all believers to partake with us, but if you would rather not, please feel free to simply pass the tray to the next participant.
Giving: We will pass trays throughout the auditorium to collect an offering during the service. We give as an “overflowing…of thanks to God” (2 Corinthians 9:12). Our guests are not expected to contribute.
Message/Sermon: There will be a message based from Scripture to encourage us and help us to understand God’s word and apply it to our lives. This message will usually be 20-25 minutes long and is usually delivered by our preacher, Devin Swindle.
Invitation: At the end of the message, the preacher will offer what we call an “invitation”. He will encourage those who feel they need help spiritually in any way to come to the front of the auditorium while the congregation sings.
Children: Children are welcome blessings at Highway, and they are welcome to remain with you during the service. We do offer an attended nursery for children under age three and also “Children’s Church” for children age 3 through second grade. Our children are dismissed to these areas in the middle of the service by our worship leader.
What do I wear?
You’ll find that at Highway, what you wear is not important. When you visit, you will find everything from jeans and camo to an occasional coat and tie. Most important to us is your presence and that you are comfortable.
Outreach & Benevolence
"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in." Matthew 25:35
Outreach and benevolence helps those who are in need and gives us the opportunity to spread the Gospel throughout our community. Ministries & Services available include:
Food Pantry: The Food Pantry is used to collect and distribute food items to families who are in need, which allows us an opportunity to spread the Gospel throughout our community.
Feed Jesus: This is an opportunity for the whole congregation to collect food items to be distributed to various families in our community for a Thanksgiving meal..
Family Day: A fun-filled day of activities for families in our community.
Vacation Bible School: Our VBS is typically held in the evenings during the first week of August. Children are led on an adventure through the Bible while adults enjoy a lecture series from a guest speaker.
